Feeling hot, Hot, HOT!

Not many site nor blog updates over the past few weeks, so I thought I'd start out by saying "Hello, I'm still here...", I've just been enjoying the sunshine while it lasts!

Although if theres one thing I hate about the Summer, it's the rubbish that comes with it. Days without rain (I know we all moan about it when it's here, but when you have days of non-stop-sunshine, you need a little refreshment!), and for hayfever sufferers, like myself, you find yourself sneezing or rubbing your eyes alot more!

Sadly, that was the reason why I did not go to see a recording of new BBC Three Comedy/Sitcom Coming of Age a few Fridays ago. My mates all went and it sounded like they had a blast, for me, it was an early night with a cold towl over my face... which actually does work!

I was suprised to read on the Digital Spy forums this week that a new Sense Radio is coming back. But, it's Sense Radio (.co.uk), and not (.com), although .com has been handed over to a new Managing Director, who will be launching it too! Personally, it doesnt seem to make Sense, having two online stations with the same name, although if they are attracting different audiences then surley the legal side and name doesnt matter? Maybe they could merge, that seems to be happening alot these days in the radio industry...

But the forum topic about the above is getting a bit out of hand now, I personally havent posted, but after having used to work for Sense Radio (.com), it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top!

In other news, I've applied for two jobs over the past week, both based in Oxford, so it's all very exciting and something to watch out for!

And almost finally... I heard Chris Moyles on BBC Radio 1 this morning talking about Commercial Radio DJs, especially Joe and Twiggy from GCAP Media's Trent FM. I got the feeling he hated them, which he then said on the air, but, he was a Commercial Radio DJ at one point! It was all to do with the Sony Radio Awards which are currently taking place... Key 103 in Manchester have scooped up a bunch of awards, and Chris Moyles has just won the Best Breakfast show award, which has been handed to him by his parents. Awwh! (Looks like he decided to go and not watch the footie!) [Sadly, that was not an exclusive in this blog, I just literally read it on Radio Today at time of writing!]

Anyway, overall, website updates over the next few days, new jobs in the pipeline, Moyles winning an award... could be me winning an award one day?

Now time to enjoy the rest of the hot weather...

Networking is the new local...

Well, over the past few days I've got a few new things! A new pair of glasses which you can see in the new banner at the top of the website (I thought it was time for a change, pretty neat eh?), and I've also got some new things to go in my wallet! Yes, different cards 'n stuff!

Anyway, news this week that GCAP (Recently taken over by Global Radio), are to have automated programming during the daytime accross their "One Network" brand. So, for those of you who don't know what I'm on about, it'll be the station with the tagline "Havent you heard"... Now, in my opinion, this is making local radio - unlocal. Although traffic and news services will remain local to each station during the networked programming. I wonder, because they'll be networking a show during the day, will they drop one of the networked shows in the evenings? (And for those who didn't know - Music Control and Late Night Love are networked... sorry to break your dreams!). But I doubt that will / would happen. CN Radio announced recently they will be networking all their output accross a selection of their stations (Including Touch Banbury), except for the breakfast show. So it appears networking is the new local. I feel Ofcom feel it's fine to network as long as they have local news and travel related to the stations broadcast area... my thoughts of course.

Back to some more entertaining, and unusual things..., don't you just hate the mess you get when the builders are in? Okay, so they're not builders but electricians, but they do make a lot of mess... lucky for me I don't notice it on my computer screen until I turn it off... they'll be gone soon though! BUT they have done a brilliant job!

Teachers strike tomorrow, so I don't think I have any lessons, which is a good thing, as it allows us to do more filming (And of course do what students do best - watching daytime TV, although with the electricians in, I doubt that'll be something to do tomorrow..)

This Friday I'm going to BBC Television Centre in London to watch a record of the BBC Three sitcom "Coming of Age" I'm looking forward to it, and it should be a good laugh too! Having never been to a recording of a "proper" television show before, this will be an experience! (I don't think standing behind the cameraman while he films a news reporter doing a live report from a tree counts as proper television...)

Local Oxfordshire band Cand Electric, have asked me to take photographs as they warm up the audience at the Carling Academy in Oxford in May, so I'll have more news on that soon!

Anyway, enough of me yabbiting on...

Have a good week blogwatchers!
